Philanthropy

Sigma Nu understands that the concept of brotherhood extends beyond the confines of our fraternity walls. As students at the University of Southern California, we have a commitment to our neighbors. On top of our involvement in external events, Sigma Nu proudly hosts two annual philanthropies which have quickly developed into community traditions.

Christmas Tree Sales is a week-long event which celebrates the holidays with Christmas tree lights, a large bonfire, hot chocolate, snow, carols, Santa Claus and his elves. Sigma Nu sells Christmas trees of various sizes and donates proceeds to local charities. Sigma Nu also hosts a canned food drive for the Los Angeles Food Bank. This event has been held annually on the last week of the fall semester since 1974.

Sigma Zoo gives inner city kids and local communities the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of animals not typically found in Los Angeles. Sigma Zoo has quickly established itself as one of the most hands-on philanthropy events available to students at USC. Not only does this event provide an educational and entertaining experience in a safe and friendly environment, but the event is free of charge for the community. Kids have a unique opportunity to learn about different animals while interacting with the men and women of USC and gaining exposure to the world of higher education.

Parent's Weekend Casino Night is a joint philanthropy event with the with Delta Delta Delta sorority early in the fall semester. Sigma Nu and Tri-Delt parents enjoy a formal dinner, an evening of socializing, and casino-style games. The proceeds from casino night are donated to St. Jude ChildrenŐs Research Hospital.
